GIFTED ENRICHMENT

We just completed a political study on the Presidential Candidates.  Each student looked up BOTH candidates positions on 6 different issues, studied those issues, took part in an online questionaire that helped them determine which candidate they related to best.  They then voted by secret ballot. 

As we begin to work on Issue 2 of the Newspaper, we will also be taking a look at "The Flipside," which is a publication insert in the Charleston newspaper once a month that is written completely by high school journalism students and contains articles on issues relevent to our teenagers. 

We will be using the opportunity to get ideas and discuss the issues.

Also, Michael and Nicole have started writing a weekly article for the new newspaper in the county.  It's called The Jackson County Citizen.  It is published each Tuesday.

Hopefully, before the end of the year, we will have links to the newspaper online both in this WIKI and on the school's website.

In January, we will begin a problem-solving activity and a webquest.
